Rosemary Pointon Therapy was founded with the belief that every child and family deserves compassionate, individualized support. My mission is to facilitate emotional healing through directive and non-directive work with children, young people and parents/carers so that individuals are empowered to work at their own pace to create the change they need.
About Rosemary
I live in Hindhead, Surrey and offer play therapy, therapeutic life story work and dyadic developmental psychotherapy sessions in the Farnham, Haslemere, Liphook and Petersfield areas. Sessions are scheduled at the same time each week and 12 is the minimum recommended number of sesions though a lot of the work is longer term.
My training, experience and registrations:-
- 18 years as a Home School Link Worker providing emotional and practical support to children and families in schools where I am also a Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead.
- 5 years working therapeutically with children and families. I am passionate about this work and the benefits of it. I have a particular interest in early childhood trauma.
- PTUK (Play Therapy UK) Certified Play Therapist
- Post Graduate Certificate in Therapeutic Play Skills
- Post Graduate Diploma in Practice Based Play Therapy (Level 7). This was an integrative training so I draw on different modalities in my practice.
- Diploma in Therapeutic Life Story Work with Katie Wrench through the Greenane Centre.
- Level 1 in DDP (Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy) with Dafna Lender.
- On the accredited register of Play Therapists with the PSA, the Professional Standards Authority for Health and Social Care.
- A registered Member of BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy).
- Hold enhanced DBS Disclosure check and comprehensive public liability insurance.
I originally trained as a Registered Nurse and spent several years working overseas with Médecins sans Frontières. On my return to the UK, I worked as a Care Manager for Waverley Adult Social Care Team until I became a Home School Link Worker.
I still love exploring the world when I get the opportunity to, and I spend as much time as I can walking and in nature.
